Daily self-care is not optional for Charles. He has to do it. He has to do it because he is on a mission to put as much positive energy into the world as he possibly can, and you can believe it when we tell you that he is succeeding! Charles starts every single day with a meditation and gratitude practice. He is sincerely grateful for every day that he is given and does not take a single one for granted; not for one second. In addition to making a conscientious effort to welcome positive energy into his day both through meditation he also does it through exercise. Exercise, for Charles is both as much a means for physical well-being as it is a way for him to flush out any negative energy that may have built up throughout his day.
Charles considers his positivity a rebellion, in a way, to the pain that drug addiction has brought to members of his family. Growing up, Charles’ dad struggled with drug abuse and served time in jail because of it. He watched his mom suffer because of his dad’s drug problem and he was deeply affected by this. Charles could have responded to this in any number of ways. He could have grown up to be angry and resentful. But, he didn’t. Instead he chose to counteract the pain in his life with positivity. He chose to channel any anger into positive energy. He chose to rise above the pain and he’s now dedicated his life inspiring others to do the same.
Living With Purpose
Charles starts and ends every day with a smile and if you spend any amount of time with him you can’t help but to share in this energy. Charles says that if he could rid the world of any problem it would be negativity because negativity fuels pain, leads to negative thought patterns, and is the source of so many of the bad decisions that people make.
In his professional life he works as a Fitness Activity Specialist in a psychiatric hospital. In addition to bringing positivity into his workplace, he brings a commit to health and wellness. Charles knows firsthand the healing power of exercise and he gives all he can to helping others achieve the same benefits for themselves. He is selfless in his ability to motivate, to inspire grit and determination, and to help people who are struggling find themselves again through hard work and commitment to their fitness goals.
Making An Impact
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, but Charles is honestly at his happiest knowing that he’s contributed to someone else’s smile. And that’s the impact he makes. His energy is contagious. He brings into positivity the lives of everyone who is fortunate enough to meet him.
Charles plans to keeping paying it forward by donating the proceeds from his “Positivity = Progress” collection to CASA for children.
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives.
